The
historic Wayside Inn can provide a unique venue for your wedding. There are
four possible sites for your event: the beautiful Martha Mary Chapel, the
picturesque Gristmill, the lush Longfellow Rose Garden, or in a function room
at the Inn. The Martha-Mary Chapel is host to some 400 weddings per year. One
sweeping glance at the secluded clapboard Chapel, perched at the top of it's
grassy knoll, framed by a back drop of towering white pines, and you will
understand the popularity of this special and tranquil place. This
non-denominational Chapel is ideal for weddings of any size up to
150 persons. From the gilded banner weather vane atop the stark
white spire to the elegant Irish crystal chandelier above the pews,
the charm of the Martha Mary Chapel has long been recognized
as a national landmark.
The new bride and groom, as well as other members of the wedding
party, can be transported from the Chapel to the Wayside Inn by
traditional horse and surrey for a small additional fee. For a special
touch, many brides choose to have their wedding pictures taken at
the Wayside Grist Mill, only a stone’s throw from the Chapel. In summer,
the lush Longfellow Garden is also an ideal spot for wedding photos.
